Tyler Andrew Thornton, 31, of Fernandina Beach passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 14, 2023 in
Yulee.
Tyler was a lifelong resident of Nassau County and the son of Tony and Susan Williams Thornton. He was a sixth-generation Nassau County native.
As a member of the 2010 graduating class of Fernandina Beach High School, Tyler played baseball, golf, and soccer for the school. He continued his love of sports into adulthood. His favorite was playing a round of golf or tennis with his family. He loved the Florida Gators and enjoyed fishing too.
He had a genuine servant’s heart and would do anything he could to help those around him. He will be remembered for his big heart and how caring he was. He always had a great laugh that was memorable to all who knew him.
Tyler was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dink and Dottie Thornton.
He leaves behind his parents, Tony and Susan Thornton of Fernandina Beach; his brother, Matthew Thornton, wife Kaysley, and their daughter, Brilee of Fernandina Beach; his sister, Grace Bayliss and her husband, Gabe of Jacksonville; his maternal grandparents, Tom and Brenda Williams of Yulee; as well as an aunt, several uncles and cousins, and his dog, Scout.
The family will receive friends at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor Dwight Allan of the Anchor Church of God officiating.
Tyler will be laid to rest with his grandparents at Hughes Cemetery in Yulee.
Rather than flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to the Nassau County Humane Society in Tyler’s memory.
