So saddened by the loss of our dear friend Scott Hodges. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful principal/boss. He was so kind and would make the extra effort to connect with his staff and student in a caring and respectful way. I especially admired and appreciated how he took such an interest in our "special kids". He was loved and will be missed. Praying for the Hodges family and all who knew him in this time of loss.

I’ve only had one real memory with Mr. Hodges as my principal in elementary school but Lord only knows the impact it had in those days… dealing with a broken family in those days as a child I acted out a lot in school, then the day came I decided to switch my name on someone else’s test so I didn’t have to do the work well later that day my dad and Mr. Hodges were waiting on me in his office. I don’t know if He saw what was truly going on in my life outside of school but he did notice a referral/punishment wasn’t what I needed, Mr. Hodges, my Dad and I continued to sit in the office for the rest of the day talking about my favorite hobby back then which was hunting and how we made plans to go that next weekend but now we couldn’t because I was in trouble… Mr. Hodges insisted that my Dad took me hunting instead of punishment as I deserved, we left that day with no write up no referral or suspension, instead I killed my first deer with my Dad that weekend… I never knew Mr. Hodges that well but I do remember that little favor he did for that little boy back then, and I will forever be grateful for it. My condolences to His family and all the Love and prayers are being sent out from my family and myself! Remind yourselves death shouldn’t be feared but embraced, it’s not our final rest but our final birth into eternity with the Lord, yes grieve for a time but then celebrate in knowing who he is with now…
Brooke Gray

Dear Mr. Hodges, I am so happy that our last interaction was so light hearted and funny! Every year you would receive that same email from me asking about how many.more minutes until I could retire. And, each year, you would tell me to hang in there and how wonderful I was as a teacher. I often reflect back on thos words on my toughest days. Thank you so much for being the person who shared the words I needed. You will be truly missed! Love you always, Mrs. Smiley

Scott was truly a Servant Leader. Over the 24yrs working with Scott, I found him to be honest, caring, and compassionate. Recently when my mother passed away, Scott reached out to say he went to her house when he was a boy to buy shrimp to go fishing. Recently, when I didn't have a ticket to the teacher of the year Gala, Scott found me a ticket but he said " you will be Nancy at the door. Always looking out for others. Someone couldn't attend so he made sure I got a ticket. Our School District has a void. I know I'm going to miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May God give you mercy, grace and the peace that surpasses all understanding. Respectfully, Marian Phillips

Our sincerest condolences to Krista and the entire Hodges family. Scott will forever be remembered as a kind, caring, patient soul. He was the first person to welcome me to YES, and soon, he invited Toby and I to wakeboard on the river. He would run the boat a mile in one direction to scare off the alligators for us. He turned the boat around no less than 87 times to teach us how to wakeboard. He would not leave that day until we stood up. His patience was that of another world. These are memories we will hold forever.
Jeffrey DeJesus
Scott was one of the nicest and most engaging people you could hope to know. If you knew him on any level, you felt his genuine interest in getting to know who you were, listening and helping in any way he could. Whether you were sharing a beer and a laugh, or having a more serious conversation about anything, the comfort level was the same. I wish I could have shared more time with him. He will be missed.
Russell Johnson / Nancy
Scott always presented himself and Nassau County Schools in a professional manner. He will be sorely missed as leader, coworker and friend. Our sincere condolences.
