Richard Wade Fisk

Richard �Wade� Fisk, 86 passed away on April 30, 2018, at his home in Coral Gables. In his final days, he was surrounded by loving family and friends. All of those that knew him called him Wade.

In high school and college, he was a pole vaulter and high jumper, and placed as an alternate pole vaulter at the 1956 Olympics. During his time as a lifeguard in California, he was taught to use the newly invented Aqua Lung (Scuba Tanks) by its inventor, Jacques Cousteau. His love of swimming as well as many other sports such as tennis, racquetball, golf and fishing continued throughout his entire life.

He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War

He is a graduate of North Texas and obtained a Master�s degree in Physical Education and Administration. He taught Physical Education for 37 years with Dade County Public Schools.

In addition to sports, he had a passion for music and loved singing and playing the ukulele.

He was a lifetime honorary member of the Elks Lodge 948 and also ran the Hoop Shoot for many years. Wade was also a member of the American Legion.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Fisk Hembrough in 2015.

His surviving family includes his wife, Betty; his son Robert, wife Maria; granddaughters, Brittany Klay, and Hannah Hembrough; sister Norma Jean; nieces, Nancy, Peggy and nephews, Vince and Jimmy.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors beginning at 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, he will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
