Raymond Lombard
2022-10-26
Raymond Richard Lombard, 78, of 9Fernandina Beach passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Warner Center for Caring.
Born in Portland, ME, he was son of the late Arthur K. and Mary Ann M. (Lamore) Lombard.
Mr. Lombard served his country honorably in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and later, retired from Sanders & Associates, now known as Lockheed Corporation. Afterwards, he moved to Fernandina Beach and began a working for Wal-Mart for approximately 20 years; building relationships with people in the community. He enjoyed nearly all sports. In his younger years, he played baseball, softball, basketball and was a member of a trampoline team. Mr. Lombard was a dedicated Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was a skilled woodworker, and artist who enjoyed the outdoors playing golf when he was able, and yard work.
Mr. Lombard was a devoted husband to his wife, Shirley Ann (Morin) Lombard, who predeceased him in death in 2016. He missed her dearly, “until we meet again”. He was a man of integrity, character and strength. He was a caring father to his three children, whom he leaves behind, Mark A. Lombard of Fernandina Beach, Lori L. Lombard also of Fernandina Beach and Leah M. Lombard of Jacksonville. He always did things, “his way,” without asking for help, but he would help those who asked.
He was preceded by all six of his siblings, Arthur K. Lombard, Jr., Leo C. Lombard, Gloria Vanier, Howard E. Lombard, Delores Foster and Sandrajean E. Lombard.
He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Justin Buxton, Jason Lombard and Daren Lombard, as well as his “Grand Dog” Ella Joy. He will be dearly missed by all.
There are no services planned for Mr. Lombard at this time. He and his wife will be laid to rest sometime in the future.
