I’m so sorry to hear about Mrs. Byrd‘s passing but I know she’s so happy to be back with Mr. Byrd! She and my grandmother Myra Decker were good friends and she went on a few camping trips with us when I was little. Her sister Cleo went one time to Vogel State and we had such a great time! She was such a bright light and will be missed by many!

Norma was such a sweet loving person.I always looked forward doing her hair for all those years.Loved hearing her play the piano as I recorded her playing on her 91st birthday and have listened to it many times. She will be missed but I will always treasure the times with her.

I enjoyed every minute I got to spend with my Norma Byrd while she was at Lakes Crossing Senior Care. She was always so gentle and kind but if you sat with her at the piano she went right into strict teacher mode! She was a true blessing and will be greatly missed.

I have many good memories of Mrs. Byrd during my piano lessons. I’m so thankful for her investment in me that has allowed me to minister to others through piano music. I’m sure our Heavenly Father said, “Well done”, when she arrived.

I owe all my love for the piano to Ms Byrd. She taught me how to play for several years. I wish I had known. I just found out today!. She was a dear sweet lady, whom I will cherish. I look forward to seeing her in heaven. I know she will master those chords we talked about on my last occasion to see her. Her family was truly blessed. Prayers for her family. ❤️

I met Gramma Byrd when Mark (her grandson) and Angie (our daughter) decided to get married. She came to our home in NC for the wedding and we had great time talking with her and hearing the different stories she shared. I got to visit her at her home in Florida a few times and enjoyed hearing her play the piano. She was such a sweet lady and loved by so many people. She will be greatly missed.

Norma Byrd died February 5, 2025, one day after her 100th birthday.
Her passing was a sad but also glorious event. The final week she was almost totally unresponsive, neither eating, nor drinking. On the final day as family members were singing the words “welcome home, the banquet table is ready”, she opened her eyes, looked around, smiled, then looked up seeming to see something far beyond this world. She began to laugh……and was gone.
The funeral celebration was held at Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday, February 8. Norma Byrd, known to everyone as Gramma Byrd, has multitudes of kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends that will cherish memories of her.
The family gives special thanks to Hearth Hospice, Lakes Crossing Senior Living, and Calvary Baptist Church.
