Martha Jane Brown Flanagan

Martha Jane Brown Flanagan, 75, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in Fort Lauderdale.
She was born and raised in Jacksonville and was a daughter of the late Price and Natalie (maiden) Brown.
She was a 1966 graduate of Englewood High School where she played on the school basketball team. She first met her future husband, William Flanagan at the Brad Tredenick Youth Center in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Flanagan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was of the Baptist faith. She worked for the Nassau County School System and retired from Yulee Middle School after 30 years.
She dearly enjoyed camping and going on cruises, travelling, fishing and puzzles. She would spend time at the beach or near the water whenever she had the opportunity. She was also a die-hard Jaguars fan and was a longtime season ticket holder.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Marvin Brown and Marion Brown.
She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, William Flanagan of Yulee; her children, James Turner, III, John (Jennifer) Turner and Julie Flanagan (Gerry) Bain; her siblings, Randy Bass, Carolyn Witcher and David Brown; her grandchildren, Brittney, Alexis, Joshua, Christopher; great grandchildren, Emerson and Brewer as well as an extended family of several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor Jimmy Flanagan officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM.
The pallbearers will be Cleve Hopper, Lance Hopper, Jimmy Flanagan, Troy Flanagan, Chris Turner and Ronnie Witcher.
She will be laid to rest at Green Pine Cemetery.
