Lynda D. McCammon

Lynda D. McCammon, age 79, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring surrounded by her family.
Lynda was born May 20, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Cyril and Mary Jo (Herendeen) Cserep.
She and her family moved to St. Petersburg, FL in her early teenage years. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School with the class of 1961 where she was a cheerleader and was voted “Most Friendly” by her high school class. She continued to make friends and make others feel included and loved throughout her life. She married H. Larry Hawkins of St. Petersburg in 1963 and moved to Washington DC, Ft Benning GA, and finally Ft Jackson SC. In 1966 she and Larry relocated back to St. Petersburg. In 1982 she married her second husband Kenneth (Mac) McCammon who is now deceased.
Lynda was a homemaker for many years raising her two boys. Eventually she entered the workforce, working for Home Federal Bank, Barnett Bank, The Wittner Company and finally, PCA Raymond James where she continued until retirement in 2005.
After living in St. Petersburg, FL for most of her life, she moved to Maggie Valley, NC in 2005. She loved the mountains and felt truly at home in her cabin but moved to Fernandina Beach in 2021 to be near family. She loved cooking, shopping, decorating, traveling, her many friends, and especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of Calvary Road Baptist Church in Maggie Valley, NC until she moved to Fernandina Beach where she began attending First Baptist Church.
Lynda leaves behind her son, Philip Hawkins (Mary Helen) of Fernandina Beach, FL and Douglas (Amanda) of Savannah GA as well her grandchildren Gage, Gretchen, Emily, Gentry, Coleman, and Charlie. She also had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial gathering and celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Road Baptist Church in Maggie Valley, NC.
