I'm a loss for words and condolences to Judy's family. I had shared good times, bike rides, traveling and good music with Judy. I will always remember the beautiful person she was. I haven't seen Judy for years, but I always enjoyed her posts and pictures on Facebook. I'm happy for those moments and memories.

She will be terribly missed, a fun & loving lady........May the eternal light shine upon "The Judy"

Susan Perlis

This is Susan Perlis, daughter-in law of Marvin and Lynette Perlis. Your sweet Judy worked for them on a weekly basis for 3+ years. They loved Judy, and most of all … she loved them back!!! She was ALWAYS so caring and Helpful to them. We recently moved them back home to Tifton in early November. I was aware that she was ill before they moved. We are all heartbroken for your sudden loss of such a loving friend to my in-laws. We too loss Marvin the day before your sweet Judy. He took a fall on Christmas Eve, broke his hip, and tried, but never recovered. Our thoughts and prayers to your family from Ms Lynette, Susa, Phil Mary and Michael.

Dear Melodie and Ernest, there are no words to truly express my deepest condolences for the loss of your sweet Momma Judy. I pray that your faith will give you the strength, courage and comfort you need to get you through these difficult times. I will always cherish the fond memories of working with Judy in the Tuition Billing Dept. for Denver Public Schools. She and I got along so well together; she and my Mom shared the same birth date which made our friendship even more special. Judy had a heart of gold inside and out and her laughter was contagious. She was loved by all so thank you both for loving and caring for your Momma till the end. I'm sending tons of hugs your way and will continue to keep you all lifted up in prayer. Peace and Blessings to you always.

Judy was always so friendly and I was always happy to see her bright smile and lovely demeanor. We enjoyed watching her son Ernest play the saxophone, she was so proud of him! She will be missed very much!

I met Judy at Western Electric, before we had kids. We didn’t work in the same departments she was close to the exit door where I parked my car. But as I was leaving, she would flash me that big Judy smile every day. Always leaving me with a smile at the end of my shift. We didn’t see each other for several years until we each had two kids. We enrolled them in the same Sunday school at Guardian Angels, her son was the same age as my oldest daughter and her daughter was the same age as my middle daughter. In Judy Fashion we became friends even though we only knew each other through waves and smiles. She had the best personality to match that beautiful smile of hers. We had some funny stories to keep as memories. After all these years no matter the length of time or distance we always managed to pick up where we left off together. Judy was A beautiful soul, and she will be missed tremendously. I won’t say goodbye, but I will keep her in my heart till I see her again. Love Hugs and prayers to her beautiful family.

Always there to see Judy when she would get the kids from school. She always smiled and had the biggest brimmed hat on. She truly looked like sunshine EVERYDAY. I loved her spirit and her dedication to her grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in everything she did, but most importantly in everyone she loved.

Judy Duran

2025-01-19

Devoted grandmother and mother, Judy Duran entered into Heaven at the age of 65. After a short, yet courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones and those who will hold her in their hearts and live their lives as she would; fun, caring and loving.

Judy’s legacy and love will live on in her daughter and son-In-law, Melodie & Gabriel Nevarez; son and daughter-in-law to be, Ernest Gonzales and Ashley Stanovich; her step-daughter, Angela Maez; her grandchildren Giovanni Gonzales, Ylianna Gonzales, Aleli Nevarez and Misael Nevarez; her step-grandchildren, Eva Stanovich and Ivan Stanovich; her siblings, Clifford (Shirley) Pacheco, Gerald Lopez, Shirley Martinez, Georgia Duran, Joey (Julia) Duran and Ronald (Vickie) Pacheco; a special friend, Ernie Muniz; several nieces and nephews as well as family, friends and friends who became family.

She was reunited in heaven on January 19, 2025 with her grandparents, Demecia and Felix Pacheco; her mother, Aurora (Lola) Duran and her son, David Anthony Duran.

Judy was born on September 29,1959 to her mother, Aurora Duran, in Brighton, Colorado. She outgrew her small town and moved to Denver, Colorado where she began her family. She devoted her life to her children and tried her best to provide them the best possible lives with spending endless hours at the ball fields, performances, basketball courts and golf courses. The moment Judy became a grandmother, she quickly focused on becoming the best grandma to her grandchildren, changing her life and schedule to accommodate as much time as possible with them as she could. No football or baseball game was complete without Judy’s infamous “OWWW” from the crowd.

Judy moved to Fernandina Beach in 2011 and quickly knew she was in her forever home. She became “The Judy” for all her kids and grandkids friends and was easily loved by all. With her sunhat on and her Pinot Grigio in hand, Judy made an impact on everyone she met even as she became sick she still would turn on her charm, stay witty and pucker up to give love.

Even Though Judy’s soul has ascended into heaven, a piece of her will live on with each and every one of us. She never wanted anyone to be sad for her only to rejoice as she would.

The family would like to invite you all to her Catholic Ceremony of Visitation and rosary on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. A Funeral Mass will be be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church. Please refrain from wearing black. Judys request was for us to be bright and bubbly with bright colors, especially her favorite color of blue. A Celebration of Life in Colorado will happen in the springtime. Details will be posted to social media.
