I have never met a kinder, funnier, warmer person than John. I will miss the driveway parties, Sunday dinners, and John's gentle presence. My deepest condolences to his family, and especially Joanna.

I only knew John for a short time but in that time I saw a very kind and loving person. I enjoyed tasting a new IPA he always had on hand. The great dinners he and Joanna made for us and others they invited to their home. He was a birthday brother and one of kind! RIP friend

Was fortunate to spend a lunch with John last year. We reminisced about all the OBX vacations our families spent over the years. I had such a nice time talking to John and laughing about the antics our parents found themselves during vacations. God has called you way too early and only he knows the reasons. We will miss you greatly. Condolences to Joanna , Kristen , Anne , Susan, and Stephen.God Bless you John and may you have eternal peace.

John was the best. He always had such a welcoming smile and a generous heart. I will forever cherish the times spent with him and Joanna over the years, too many to count. May God rest his soul, he’s probably on a shore somewhere right now catching the biggest fish.

Although we knew John briefly, his memory will live long in our hearts. May he rest in the peace of Christ, and may Perpetual Light shine upon him.

John and I were friends and cub scouts way back in the day. Such a great guy and both our Mom's were "Den Mothers". What I've read about him today is no surprise since he was always a good guy even way back then. We were not close by any means but followed updates on Facebook. I know John was the kind of guy that if we saw each other it would be like we didn't miss a beat. My condolences to the family and RIP to John
