Joann Delk Miller
2021-09-25
Joann Delk Miller, 82 years old, of Yulee, Florida, passed away September 25, 2021, at her home
surrounded by her loving family.
Joann was born on July 21, 1939, to the late parents, Thorpe and Lucille White Delk. She grew up in
Axson, Georgia.
After graduation, Joann began working at the Cigar Factory in Waycross, Georgia. In 1966, Joann met the
love of her life, Buddy Miller, and was married on May 14, 1966. Over some time, the couple welcomed
two children into the family, which made it complete. Scott and Michelle remember her as a kind,
patient, loving mom, who always let them know how much they were loved.
Joann was a homemaker but also worked in the local schools. Many children called her “Mom,” and she
considered them like her own. She was very dedicated to her family and was the perfect wife, mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother. To know her was to love her.
Joann was proceeded in death by her parents Thorpe and Lucille Delk, her five brothers, J.L. Delk, Little
Delk, Billy Delk, Glenn Delk, Tommy Delk, and Willie Delk, and two sisters, Betty Gurley and Margaret
Delk.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Buddy Miller, her son Scott (Karen) Miller, and daughter
Michelle (Edmund) Wilder; five grandchildren Brooke (Shane) Shepperd, Jarrett (Amy) Sinclair, William
(Emily) Miller, Ryan Miller, and Austin Miller; three great-grandchildren Rylee and Natalee Sinclair and
Bristol Shepperd.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Oxley Heard Chapel. The
family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Afterward, Joann will be laid to
rest at Green Pine Cemetery, and all are welcome to attend. Following the graveside service, family and
friends will be welcome at Joann and Buddy’s residence.
