Although I didn't know Georgeann, I had the privilege of meeting her on a girls trip in 2024 to Curacao. I must say that she was such a delight to be around. Her spirit exuded kindness and beauty. Praying that the days to come would be filled with beautiful memories that bring smiles and laughter for her family and friends.

Coach Sapp, I was so sorry to hear about Georgeann’s passing. Hoke Morrow, Coach Morrow’s son called to tell me. From reading her obituary I know now how close y’all were to each other. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Be strong in your faith and cling to all your memories of her. You were my favorite coach for the 2 years you were in Perry. I love you, man.

Georgeann and I met in the mid/late 80´s as I was going thru an extremely difficult time. Georgeann taught me that life could be fun again. She was always so full of life, so confident, fearless, loyal, protective and spunky! Once you became friends with Georgeann you were ALWAYS friends, regardless of time and distance. There will never be another like her. Rest in peace my sweet friend. We will walk Heavens´ beaches together one day. Truly, you will always hold a special place in my heart.

She was a special person in my life. She loved the older ladies as well as her school kids. It also takes a special person to teach the special kids and love each as your own.

I first met Georgeann when she came to Dodge County Middle School to teach Special Education. She was assigned to me as an ELA co-teacher. We immediately hit it off! We made a great pair and worked so well together. We quickly became great friends not only at work but also outside of those four walls. When not in each other's presence, we were on the phone...from venting about our day to gossiping to chatting about absolutely nothing. We traveled quite a bit together before she moved back home to Douglas to be with her dad. Our trips became fewer but not our phone conversations. There were many times that I'd cook supper with Georgeann on speaker phone. We found a way to catch up on all the latest news. She confided in me about SO MUCH, and I did the same. I just wish that I could see her name pop up on my phone one more time, so I could hear her say, "Hey...whatcha doin'?" Georgeann, you were my best friend. There will never be another one like you. No one will ever take your place. I miss you so much, and I cannot wait until the day that we can sit down and "catch up" one more time. Seeing your picture here brings me to tears. It just doesn't seem right. None of this does. I came here to say that I love you and will always cherish the memories that we made. You were my person! You believed in me when it felt like no one else did. You cheered me on and encouraged me through lots of hard times. Even though I never felt like it, you always referred to me as "SUPERWOMAN" for teaching, raising my two daughters, AND raising three grandchildren. You always said, "Girl, I don't know how you do it!" Well...I have been able to do it with your friendship, encouragement, and many prayers! You hold it down up there, my friend! Wait for me! Save me a seat...because I know we have lots of "tea to spill"! Always and forever, my sweet friend! <3

My sister-friend; my sidekick, shopping buddy, roadtrip bestie, beachin' partner...you name it. I'll miss you forever. To you, my friend: As I stop to count my blessings, there is one thing that rings true, I'll always be so grateful for the friend I found in you. Grateful for the fun times we have shared throughout the years, and the times that brought us closer though our lasughter and our tears. Grateful for ALL life's gifts, however great or small, but having you as my friend was the greatest gift of all. And when I look upon my life, what will matter in the end, is that I was truly blessed, to have you, my faithful friend. To Coach; you know I'll always be your Gator gal! Love to you always.

Georgeann Sapp
2025-02-01
Georgeann Sapp was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida as she was returning home from a trip to The Magic Kingdom at Disney World. She was 59 years old. Born on June 4, 1965 in Dublin, Georgia, Georgeann was the only child of George and Louann Dickerson Sapp.
As a child, Georgeann and her parents moved back to George’s hometown of Jasper, Florida to be close to family, instilling in her an almost idyllic childhood with grandparents around to spoil her! As football coach’s daughter, Georgeann was the mascot for the football team. Growing up, Georgeann took dance lessons and her love of dance continued through high school, where she was a majorette. While she got her love of football from her father (Go Dawgs!) she got her charm and grace from her mother and grandmother. She was the epitome of southern charm and tenacity.
Georgeann loved her people and if she loved you, you knew it. Her lifelong friends have shared her love of creating events, putting people together, or simply looking for her next adventure. Georgeann loved planning her next trip - whether to the North Georgia Mountains, on a cruise, her next shopping trip, to the Caribbean or just simply to her beloved beaches on Amelia Island, Georgeann was always excited for her next chapter. To know her, was to be swept up in her excitement of whatever was next!
Georgeann was a teacher at heart, having received her Master’s in Education at Valdosta State University. Georgeann taught special education classes in Douglas and Eastman Georgia and the Jasper, Florida school systems. She was a force to be reckoned with for her students and loved being in the classroom. Georgeann advocated for her kids as if they were her own and constantly created special memories for each of her students - even attending graduation parties after she retired. Georgeann loved her fellow teachers and would often talk of how much fun they had in and out of the classroom.
Georgeann was the “Queen of Sparkles”. If you could make something fun, she could make it epic. If you had an idea for a simple celebration, you better believe she was going to show up and show out. Georgeann’s people were her life. If she loved you, you were in her heart at all times. She was a giver. She gave you her time, her immense talent and her joy. One of her greatest gifts was in caring for her father. She made sure “King George” was fed every morning at T-Rays, cooking his favorite meals, including him on excursions with her friends. She loved him to the moon and back.
Georgeann’s greatest gift was her love of Jesus and her Baptist upbringing. There is no doubt that when she arrived at the pearly gates, she had a line of people waiting to hug her neck. Georgeann was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, First Baptist Church of Jasper, Georgia. Since retiring to Amelia Island, she was a faithful attendee of First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach.
Georgeann was proceeded in death by her mother Louann Dickerson Sapp; grandparents, JD and Mildred Sapp; Reesa Dickerson.
She leaves behind her father, George Sapp of Fernandina Beach; various cousins and family members, and countless friends. If you measure a life by the number of friends one has, Georgeann was blessed beyond belief.
Georgeann’s funeral will be held at First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at First Baptist Church beginning at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest with her mother at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
