USGIRLS will forever hold fond memories of engaging with Denise during The Fancy Hat events. Always classy, engaging, and helpful. We shared her love for reading and being a pillar in the community. Denise’s accomplishments in life are impressive and she has heard the voice of God “well done my good and faithful servant”. As Denise walks with Jesus we will remember her and appreciate all the work she did on earth.

Mama Francina's G.U.I.L.D Book Club

We, the members of Mama Francina's Gifted, Uplifted Inseparable Literary Descendants will truly miss the physical presence of our book club member, Denise. She was always engaged in our book discussions - bringing a different and intriguing perspective. We fondly remember the first meeting she hosted (A Raisin In The Sun) in 2009, when she assigned the reading of the book, and viewing both the original movie and the remake. She set the bar with her impressive "handwritten" meeting invitations. We will sincerely miss everything about Denise...Until we meet again. .

Lynnette Minnick

Paula Staten-Morris

Condolences to the family. Fond memories of Denise as we grew up together. Our mothers were lifetime friends. Denise placed high on the intellectual scale. She was fun to be around. She could bring laughter to a room, but she would keep a straight face. Denise will always be remembered for her kind ways.

I watched over cousin Denise when she was a baby playing around Grandma Francina’s shop. She was active and cheerful!!! By the time she was 5 years old, she was learning and reciting poetry which she did with great enthusiasm and excitement. As she shook her head and waved her arms, she often recited the poem “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer. It was quite impressive to watch her. I extend my deepest condolences and pray God’s strength upon you.

LaVerne Mitchell

My prayers are with this lovely family during this difficult time. Denise was an authentic jewel.

Cathy Hubbard

Cousin Denise will never be forgotten. With things as they are in life, families go here and there, but memories always travel with us. I shall always remember Denise’s sweet, kind, gentle mannerisms; yet she was no nonsense, and how she put up with us as youngsters strutting around saying, We’re the Honey Bees.” She would just look, smile and didn’t say one word. She probably thought, Lord help the children!!!” She was the splitting image of Aunt Vernita. My heart goes out to you all even more!!! Praying God’s strength and peace upon you!!!
