Billie Dorothea Ferreira Stillwell, age 87, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024.

The daughter of Louis Anthony Ferreira Jr. and Billie Corbett Ferreira, Dorothea was a lifelong resident of Amelia Island, Florida.

Dorothea attended Fernandina Beach High School graduating with the Class of 1955. Following high school, Dorothea was a local tax consultant establishing her own accounting firm in the late 1960’s.

Dorothea became a real estate agent in 1978 joining her family’s business, John T. Ferreira & Son. She spent the next forty years pioneering a highly trusted and successful career in real estate.

Dorothea loved animals, nature, world travels, ballroom dancing, her friends, family and the community of Fernandina Beach.

Dorothea was a devout member of Saint Michaels Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister and daughter.

Dorothea is survived by her sons John David Stillwell (Nicole), Thomas Murphy Stillwell (Meriah), grandchildren Emily Nicole Stillwell, Thomas Murphy Stillwell Jr., Matthew Corbett Stillwell, brother Louis Anthony Ferreira III, and sister Cervera Ferreira Burgess, nephews Louis Anthony Ferreira IV (Cherie), Paul Ferreira (Vicki), nieces Kari Burgess Watkins (Ray), Katherine Cervera Burgess (Ryan). She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law The Honorable Judge Granville Cheveley “Doc” Burgess and niece Christina Dorothea Burgess.

. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in The Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 26 at Saint Michaels Church in Fernandina Beach.

She will be laid to rest with her parents at Bosque Bello Cemetery.

Rather than flowers, those desiring may make donations in her memory to Cats Angels, Inc. SPCA, P.O. Box 16072, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035 or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 32257.
