Barb was so very special. She was Granny Barb to my kids and was so generous to us! We will remember making gingerbread houses with her at her house in Saugerties and visiting her and Jim in Florida. She was a giver! I am confident that she is in Heaven with her Savior and is at peace, but we will miss her.

I was their mail lady for 8 years and always had dog treats with me so I would stop and give them treats, and through our mutual love for animals brought us together and we became very good friends. Barbara and Jim became very dear to me and I miss Barbara terribly. You are so missed. I love you momma

Barbara Mary Ross (Seissler) of Yulee, Florida, died peacefully at home on January 30, 2022.
Born to Henry and Betty Seissler on September 29, 1947, in Queens, NY. She lived much of her adult life in Saugerties, NY, where she worked at IBM, and met and married her beloved husband Jim in 1990.
Barbara and Jim moved to Amelia Island, Florida in 1997 and then to Yulee where they founded and operated a non-profit animal rescue called MeeMaw’s Place for many years.
Barbara was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Snow Catholic Church in Saugerties, a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission Church in Yulee. She was an organized party planner, a talented cook, a skilled woodworker/crafter and a creative home decorator. She and Jim remodeled the home they shared in Saugerties before moving to Florida, and then made improvements to their home in Amelia Island and in Yulee, although they would be the first to say the to-do list was never ending. They had many beloved animal rescues over the years and gave all of them long and happy lives.
They shared their love and lives with their children, stepchildren and nieces, nephews, grandchildren, grandnieces & nephews. Their home was filled with good food, warmth, and love. Barbara was generous in nature and full of encouragement for her loved ones. She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, and two of her sisters, Dorothy Mangione, and Elizabeth Deak. She leaves behind her beloved husband Jim, her sister Ingrid Husek, her dear friend Valerie Pearson, six stepchildren, four godchildren, 14 nieces and nephews, grand nieces, and nephews, grandchildren, many friends and her treasured animals Misty, Radar, Samson, GinGin, Cinnamon and Itzy Belle.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Oxley Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, FL.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Saugerties, NY at St. Mary of the Snow Church, Date/Time TBD
